ARC of San Diego-"Arizona Tile HIRED AAA PLUS FLOORS R US"-Emergency Tile Job-KGTV Extreme Makeover
Of all the contractors that do business with Arizona Tile (certainly several thousand corporate wide), they picked us. Not just to install, but to represent Arizona Tile also. WOW, WOW, WOW!!!. I said YES, YES, no matter what, of course, YES!
Jack said great, now here is the catch. It's around 2000 square feet, which I can have ready for pick up late Monday, and early Tueday, but it must be completed by Thursday. "We've seen your world record video, and right away we thought of you" said Jack.
That is alot of pressure considering it's three seperate but connecting rooms upstairs, with transition issues to the existing floor. Those rooms are for color and sensory rehabilitation. Downstairs is the computer room. One large room with 28 circular holes, most of them out of the center of the tile. It also had a very uneven surface covered with dark green mystery paint, which could very well leach through to the grout later.
While I tiled upstairs, Ricardo Alfaro of City Floors Installers, ground down and prepped the floor downstairs for us.
Of course, we made the deadline! Even with texture guys and moulding guys on top of us, we still did it. And as you might imagine, the job is amazing. That transition issue was solved by grinding deep into the area and burying most of the tile below the other side of the transition, which is vct tile. Also, we cut one door, installed ADA approved transitions at 4 other doorways, and did a special deep bevel bullnose for the wheelchair entry.
Thanks again, Jack & Mark & corporate. Being part of this project at ARC of San Diego, has been great fun. We really love this place. It is a place of great joy. I hope we made you proud. Check out our video. That is Andy Bertrem, as narrator, and yes, Andy Bertrem installed every single tile here, and Angelica Bertrem made all those impressive circular cuts.
The best thing about this job is that the tile was ARIZONA TILE, and therefore, superior quality. This made our installation that much better & easier
AND NO!!, WE DID NOT DONATE OUR TIME. WE WERE PAID BY ARIZONA TILE, VERY NICELY, THANK YOU!!!!
SPECIAL THANKS TO KGTV & EVERYONE WHO HELPED MAKE THIS EXTREME MAKEOVER A REALITY.
THIS VIDEO IS DONE PRODUCTION STYLE. THIS MEANS THAT VERY FEW LINES WERE SNAPPED (MAXIMUM OF ONE PER ROW) & THAT NO SPACERS WERE USED.REAL TILE SETTERS DO NOT USE SPACERS, THEY ARE LIKE TRAINING WHEELS.I DID HOWEVER MIX THREE FULL BUCKETS OF THIN SET AT A TIME, AND TROWELED 75 SQUARE FEET AT A TIME (ONE FULL BUCKET). AND YET, THE INSTALLATION IS SO PERFECT, EVERYONE SAID"I DON'T SEE HOW YOU GOT THOSE LINES SO STRAIGHT"ALL I CAN SAY IS "THAT IS WHY THEY CALL ME THE TILE PRO"
